Miss Malaysia Politics Fail To Improve Her Miss World Betting Odds
Monday 26 November 2007 at 11:59 Miss Malaysia, Deborah Henry, has revealed that she is desperate to claim the 2007 Miss World to help make a real difference in her nation.
The 22-year-old has claimed that if she is victorious on December 1st she will fight for the rights of children and try to redress poverty in her home nation, the University of Queensland reports.
But the young model will have a tough task on her hands as she is a 25/1 outsider with Stan James and Blue Square. Miss Dominican Republic, Aimee de la Cruz, remains the favourite to claim the crown with Ladbrokes offering odds of 4/1 on the Caribbean queen.
However, the bookmakers have not shaken the determination of the Malaysian hopeful who has outlined her ambitious visions for change.
She told the publication: "I am a child rights advocate and currently speak to inform and create awareness among the Malaysian public, something which is lacking."
She added: "Studying political science really solidified my principles on justice and equality and I want to work towards creating a more sustainable world for those less fortunate."
Meanwhile, Miss England, Georgia Horsley, is an 80/1 outsider with CanBet to win the competition.
