Mourinho Issues England Come And Get Me Plea
Wednesday 28 November 2007 at 08:57 Former Chelsea manger Jose Mourinho has urged the FA to invite him to become the next England manager, it has been reported.
According to the Sun, the Portuguese is keen on becoming the successor for Steve McClaren and is willing to discuss the position.
And since the claims emerged Mourinho has become the 5/4 favourite with Boyle Sports and Centre Bet to take the post while Fabio Cappello has dropped back to 7/2 with Bet365.
Mourinho told the newspaper: "You will have to speak to the FA to see if they are interested in offering me the job."
"I cannot say what I think until they say they are interested. Tell the FA to come and get me. We will have to wait and see, but I rule nothing out."
The 44-year-old would be a popular choice with the fans due to his impressive record with both Porto and Chelsea.
Meanwhile, following his fall-out with club owners George Gillette and Tom Hicks, Rafa Benitez's odds of taking the England job have shortened to 16/1 with Bet Fred.
