Murphy Pleased With New Alco Ahead Of Gold Cup
Wednesday 28 November 2007 at 10:41 Trainer Ferdy Murphy revealed that he is delighted with the form of New Alco heading into the Hennessy Gold Cup on Saturday (December 1st).
After his admissions of the horse's good condition, the odds for a New Alco victory at Newmaket have been slashed to 6/1 with both Ladbrokes and Coral putting the equine firmly among the front runners.
New Alco has successfully completed a series of warm ups and his team cannot wait to see the horse in action in the prestigious race.
Murphy told the Racing Post: "He worked well this morning and we're delighted with him.
"It was a nice bit of work and he came through it with flying colours." He added: "The trip has never been a problem. We always thought three miles would be his right trip even though he was competing over two and a half."
Meanwhile, Denham remains the favourite to claim the Gold Cup after being priced at 7/2 with Paddy Power and Sky Bet.
