McCoy Lands Snowy Morning Ride
Friday 30 November 2007 at 09:14 Champion jump jockey Tony McCoy has been confirmed as the rider of Snowy Morning in Saturday's (December 1st) Hennessy Gold Cup - significantly cutting the horse's odds of victory.
Snowy Morning is now among the front runners for the cup at 6/1 with Paddy Power and Stan James.
And both McCoy and the equine's trainer Willie Mullins are determined to claim a win to avenge defeats of the past.
Mullins thought Be My Royal had won him the race back in 2002 only to have the horse disqualified on a doping charge and Tony McCoy's best finish in the prestigious cup is third place.
But the handler is confident that their fortunes can be turned around if Snowy Morning puts in a good performance.
He told the Racing Post: "He would appear to have a reasonable chance at the weights on paper but going there without a prep runis an obvious concern.
"I would have preferred to have run him somewhere before a race as big as this, but I'm happy enough with him."
However, Snowy Morning will have to run an impressive race to overhaul Denman, the 7/2 favourite with Ladbrokes and Coral.
