Alesha Leans On Family For Strictly Support
Friday 14 December 2007 at 11:53 Strictly Come Dancing star Alesha Dixon has revealed that she had to rely on the backing of her two grandmothers to make it through the last round of the contest.
The emotional singer had a troubled week and is no longer the favourite to win the contest with some bookmakers, with Bet 365 pricing her at 5/4 behind the 10/11 rated Gethin Jones.
But Alesha claimed that she was just glad to still be a part of the competition after almost coming to tears last week.
She told the BBC: "The whole week of the Foxtrot was pretty emotional, My nans came down and surprised me. That was good fun and put things in perspective.
"The dance itself was emotional. It was one of the hardest weeks I've had. The reason I nearly cried was a build up of things that had happened in my life - then dancing to a song that was emotional for me," she added.
Meanwhile, Matt Di Angelo is still the 9/1 underdog to win the contest with Sky Bet.
