Leon Set For Number One As Complaints Mount
Wednesday 19 December 2007 at 15:01 X Factor winner Leon Jackson looks set to claim the Christmas number one spot, while protests surrounding his controversial victory continue to mount.
The Scot is overwhelming favourite to top the festive charts this year, priced at 1/20 with Stan James to follow in the footsteps of last year's winner Leona Lewis.
But complaints at the final result of Saturday's (December 15th) X Factor final have now reached around 1,900, according to Ofcom.
However, not all of them were from Rhydian fans, with a number of voters unhappy that busy phone lines prevented them from showing their support for Leon and Same Difference.
And competition judge Louis Walsh defended the integrity of the show, claiming that the results were legitimate.
He said: "As far as I am aware, of the seven million plus people who voted, Leon won by a margin of around ten per cent which is pretty clear as far as I'm concerned."
Meanwhile, current chart topper Katie Melua is rated at 5/1 with Ladbrokes to become Christmas number one with her remake of Louis Armstrong's 'What a Wonderful World' - a duet with the late Eva Cassidy.
