Lampard Injury Hits Chelsea Title Hopes
Friday 28 December 2007 at 12:03 Chelsea's Premiership title aspirations have been dealt a blow with the news that talismanic midfielder Frank Lampard is out injured for the rest of the festive programme.
Lampard limped off injured during the 4-4 draw against Aston Villa on Boxing Day and the Stamford Bridge outfit have now revealed that he has suffered a thigh tear.
The news adds to the club's ever-growing injury list, with both John Terry and Didier Drogba also sidelined, and as a result they are now third choice for the Premiership title, at 10/1 with bet365, behind both Manchester United and Arsenal.
A club statement on Lampard's injury said: "Scans have revealed a tear in Frank Lampard's right thigh. The tear is not the same leg that Frank injured earlier in the season." "He will begin rehabilitation immediately and we hope to have him back playing within a few weeks."
Despite their injury setbacks, Chelsea head into tomorrow's (December 29th) home outing against Newcastle United as odds on favourites, while the St James Park outfit are given little chance of success, at 9/1 with bet365.
