Buccaneers Excited About Wild-card Outing
Monday 31 December 2007 at 13:33 Despite defeat in the final game of the regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' head coach Jon Gruden claims the club are focussed on Sunday's (January 7th) wild-card play off visit of the New York Giants.
The Buccaneers went down 31-23 to Carolina Panthers yesterday (December 30th) but still topped the NFC South division.
However, with top spot secured before the game began, Gruden rested several key players, with his sights set firmly on the Giants clash, a match the Bucs head into as 2/3 odds-on favourites with bet365.
"We are obviously disappointed in defeat," Gruden told the club's website. "There were some bright spots in my opinion, some guys got to play for the first time."
"Obviously our short-yardage offense let us down today. We didn't play up to Buc standards, but we're excited now to get the playoffs started."
With the Buccaneers favourites to progress, the Giants enter the weekend's outing as clear outsiders, with betChronicle offering a best price of 57/41.
