Chelsea Miss African Stars For Everton Match

Tuesday 08 January 2008 at 09:02

Chelsea v EvertonCarling Cup holders Chelsea will be without a host of their African stars for tonight's (January 8th) match with Everton.

The London side will be missing Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and Salomon Kalou as they prepare to take on the Merseysiders in the first leg of this year's semi-final.

But despite missing the influential trio, Chelsea are still favourites to triumph, priced at 3/4 with BetInternet, while Everton are a 7/2 shot with Bet365.

And Chelsea's Joe Cole claimed that the match is likely to be difficult but believes his side still has the quality to triumph.

"Any team losing Drogba, Essien and Kalou is going to find it tough, but we've got the players here. Claudio Pizarro is top class," he said.

"It's not going to be easy, but it's a great challenge. Everton are a brilliant side. They held us to a draw at Stamford Bridge and have a great manager in David Moyes," he added.

The winner over the two-legs will face either Arsenal or Tottenham in the final of the competition at Wembley on February 24th.ADNFCR-1141-ID-18416853-ADNFCR
