San Diego Chargers' replacement quarterback Billy Volek is ready to step in for Philip Rivers and cause an upset against the New England Patriots in Sunday's (January 20th) AFC Championship match.

Unfancied for most of the play-offs, the Chargers are massive underdogs against the undefeated Patriots and are priced at 6/1 with Sky Bet.

But after making an appearance in the third quarter against the Indianapolis Colts in the last match, Volek is ready to step up again and make the difference.

He told the Arizona Republic: "My role is a backup with this team right now but when my number is called, I've got to go out there and perform.

He added: "If I'm called upon, I'm going to try to manage the game the best way I know how to."

Meanwhile, the New England Patriots are the bookmakers odds-on favourites to claim the Superbowl XLII title, priced at 2/7 with Ladbrokes.
