Everton Hope For Victory To Improve Carling Cup Odds
Wednesday 23 January 2008 at 09:54 Everton are hoping that they can once again become a major force in English football by beating Chelsea and lifting the Carling Cup.
The Toffees are 2-1 down from the first-leg but have a vital away goal as they go into tonight's (January 23rd) clash as the 7/4 underdogs with BoyleSports.
But Everton manager David Moyes is hopeful that his side can claim victory and push the club back into the footballing limelight.
"It has taken us a time to get Everton back into this position. It has not happened in recent years," he said.
"We want to make sure there is more of it. If we can get to the final I hope it will signal a new era for the club."
Urging his team to maintain the form they have shown over the last few weeks, Moyes continued: "We must be composed and patient on the ball. We have played with flair and quality and now we need to show that at the very top level against a team like Chelsea.
"We need to show the form that has got us to where we are, and we can produce it again on the big occasion against an exceptional side."
Meanwhile, Tottenham's 5-1 demolition of north London rivals Arsenal have shortened their Carling Cup odds to 11/10 with Ladbrokes.
