Tsongas Australian Open Odds Shorten After Thrashing Nadal
Thursday 24 January 2008 at 13:04 Unseeded Jo Wilfried Tsonga produced another stirring display of tennis to thrash Rafael Nadal and reach the Australian Open final.
The Frenchman was a massive outsider to win the tournament before it began but is now rated at just 3/1 to win the Grand Slam with Ladbrokes.
Tsonga, ranked 38 in the world, produced tennis of the highest quality as he dispatched his Spanish opponent in under two hours, winning the match 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
Playing in just his fifth Grand Slam tournament, even Tsonga himself was surprised at his level of progress.
After the match he told onlooking reporters: "It is just amazing, unbelievable, nothing could stop me today.
"I tried to hit everything and everything went in, so what can I say?"
He added: "My family said it is like a dream for them, everybody in France is happy for me. I will try to do my best for the final."
Meanwhile, Australian Open favourite, Roger Federer priced at 1/2 with Stan James, faces Novak Djokovic in the second semi-final.
