Sidwell Hoping To Boost Chelsea Chances Against Former Club
Tuesday 29 January 2008 at 16:40 Chelsea midfielder Steve Sidwell is hoping to improve his side's Premier League chances by putting in a good performance tonight (January 29th) against his old club Reading.
The west London club are the hot favourites to win the Stamford Bridge encounter, rated at 1/4 on with Canbet to claim victory.
And Sidwell, who spent almost five years with the Royals, is trying to keep his place in the side with an impressive performance tonight.
He told the club website: "I've played a fair amount of games, obviously due to suspensions and injuries, and now the Africa Cup of Nations, so I've had a fair share of games, but not really had a good run up until now.
"I've probably shown now that after a run of games consecutively you get momentum and you get confidence."
He added: "We have a winning mentality and momentum which could be bad for Reading. They've had ten days off, so we'll see how they come out."
Meanwhile, Sidwell is rated at 16/1 with Blue Square to open the scoring in this evening's match up.
