France Still Lead Six Nations Odds Despite Marty Injury
Thursday 31 January 2008 at 11:34 France remain the favourites to claim the Six Nations crown, despite Florian Fritz's exclusion for Saturday's (February 2nd) game against Scotland. Despite Fritz looking likely to miss the whole tournament after fracturing his leg, France are still priced at 5/4 favourites with Ladbrokes to claim the Six Nations crown. And Fritz, who also missed the World Cup, could be out for three months. "The forecast is a minimum of six weeks to three months out," team doctor Jean-Philippe Hager said. Fritz joins countryman Jean-Baptiste Poux on the sidelines, who is set to miss the next two weeks after tearing a muscle in his thigh. The injuries have further depleted France's new-look side, which will only feature six players from the squad that reached this year's World Cup semi-final. New coach Marc Lievremont has brought in no less than five uncapped players; Julien Malzieu, Lionel Faure, Julien Brugnaut, Arnaud Mela and Morgan Parra. Meanwhile, Italy are the Six Nations underdogs, priced at 100/1 with Paddy Power to win their first tournament title.
