Capello Urged To Back Bentley To Improve England Odds
Wednesday 06 February 2008 at 09:15 Blackburn manager Mark Hughes has urged England boss Fabio Capello to pick David Bentley for tonight's (February 6th) clash with Switzerland. Capello is poised to begin his first match as England manager and the bookmakers believe he can get off to a bright start with his new-look side rated at 4/9 with Bet Direct. And although Capello will only reveal his starting 11 moments before kick off, Hughes has his fingers crossed for Bentley. "He's consistently hit a level that has enabled him to shine in games for us and, in fairness, when he has been involved in squads with England before," he said. "What we hope now is that he's going to get an opportunity to start games and, if that's the case, then we have great confidence that David will be able to make that right-hand side of the field for England his own. Hughes added: "He just needs the opportunity to start games and if he does, then people will see the quality that he could offer." Meanwhile, Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is the favourite to open the scoring tonight, rated at 4/1 with Ladbrokes.
