Nicholls Kauto Star Admissions Boost Cheltenham Gold Cup Odds
Monday 25 February 2008 at 13:02 Champion racehorse trainer Paul Nicholls has revealed that Kauto Star is in good shape for the upcoming Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Kauto Star is the 5/4 favourite, with Ladbrokes, to claim the race, with stablemate Denman 6/4 with William Hill for the duo's eagerly anticipated showdown.
But any fears that injury may ruin what promises to be one of the most exciting Gold Cups for years, were laid to rest by Nicholls' assertions that both Kauto Star and Denman, would both be fit for the race.
He told the Guardian: "Kauto Star's in great order, so is Denman. We'll be starting to step up his work again. Now it's up to us to make sure we get them there in really good order."
And claiming that Kauto would be difficult to beat, the trainer added: "Looking at Denman's form, you could say he still has a fair way to go.
"I just think whatever beats Kauto will have to be exceptional, because I feel his last two wins have been as good as anything he has done."
Meanwhile, Exotic Dancer is the third favourite behind the Nicholl's duo for the Gold Cup, rated at 14/1 with Coral.
