Tiger Woods Cannot Be Challenged
Thursday 28 February 2008 at 18:20 Adam Scott has rejected claims that he may be able to challenge Tiger Woods for supremacy in the golfing world, despite the fact that he goes into this week's Johnnie Walker Classic as firm favourite.
Scott is the highest-ranked player in the Classic, although Tiger Woods will not be competing. The Australian is 11/4 to win with Extrabet, while William Hill, Stan James and Bet Direct are all offering odds of 9/4.
Scott, who is currently ranked fifth in the world, is hoping to win the prestigious event for the second time, and will join Woods, Nick Faldo and Ernie Els as only the fourth player to have done so if he is successful.
However, speaking of the world number one, he said: "I don't see anybody challenging him week in, week out. He really is on a different level to us."
Scott will face stiff opposition from the likes of Vijay Singh, Miguel Anguel Jimenez and defending champion Anton Haig in the Johnny Walker Classic, which begins this Wednesday, in India.
Colin Montgomery will be representing Britain and is ranked as an 80/1 outsider with Bet Direct, Paddy Power and William Hill.
