England Cricketers Without Tremlett For New Zealand
Friday 29 February 2008 at 11:08 Chris Tremlett has suffered a side strain and will be unable to feature in the England squad for the three-Test series against New Zealand.
Paceman Tremlett sustained the injury during England's warm-up match against a Kiwi select side
England had secured a 15-run lead over the New Zealand XI on the second day of the match and closed with Andrew Strauss 55 not out, on 155-3 in the second innings.
However, they will now have to play without Tremlett, who has been ruled out of the tour and will fly home for treatment.
No replacement has been considered yet, but this is one of many injury problems currently blighting England, who are also resting Paul Collingwood and Ryan Sidebottom because of hamstring injuries.
The first Test is tomorrow (Saturday, March 1st) but despite their injuries England are currently favourites at 4/6 with Coral to win the series.
