Danny Cipriani Should Start For England, Says Dallaglio
Friday 29 February 2008 at 18:48 England rugby legend Lawrence Dallaglio believes that his Wasps team-mate Danny Cipriani has what it takes to be in England's starting XV for their next Six Nations match, but said that the young fly-half could play alongside Johnny Wilkinson.
With an opening day defeat of 19-26 against Wales, England is now off the pace at the top after three games despite wins against Italy and France, and sits in fourth position, tied in points with France and Ireland on 4, while Wales dominates at the top with 6.
England is now 9/2 to win the championship with Paddy Power, while Bet365, BetDirect, Ladbrokes and Coral are all offering 5/1 on the Red and Whites. Totesport and Boylesports have England down at 11/2.
However, ex-England captain Dallaglio believes that Cipriani, 20, should replace Ian Balshaw, adding that he would benefit from learning the international game in a position that has more protection.
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live, Dallaglio said: "I would play Cipriani at full-back.
"He has a huge amount to offer he has got that X-factor and his form is a little better than Balshaws."
With three wins in three, Wales are firm favourites to win the Six Nations, with odds of 11/10 from Bet365, Totesport, SportingBet, Stan James and Ladbrokes.
