Dubai Final To Feature Kuznetsova
Friday 29 February 2008 at 18:48  Svetlana Kuznetsova emerged from a grueling three-set match against fourth seed Jelena Jankovic to reach the final of the Dubai Championship.
The Russian second seed dropped the opening set, but mounted a storming recovery to win 5-7 6-4 6-3.
Kuznetsova is now favourite to win the tournament with odds of 15/8 from BetFred, 7/4 from Stan James, and 5/8 from Betfair.
She will meet either Francesca Schiavone, who dispatched world number one Justine Henin in a previous round, or Elena Dementieva, as they battle for the remaining place in Saturday's final.
"The match was going longer and longer and I was feeling better and better. I cannot explain it," Kuznetsova told reporters.
"Today it was very important for me to get through it. I thought I did it pretty well, and in the third set I just had to stay calm and play my game."
This is Kuznetsova's second final already in 2008, the 22-year-old coming second in Sydney to Henin after failing to qualify for the 2008 WTA Tour Championships.
