Vaughan Hoping England Can Beat The Pressure To Boost Test Match Odds
Tuesday 04 March 2008 at 16:42 England skipper Michael Vaughan is hoping his side can put the pressure of expectation behind them to claim victory in the first test match against New Zealand, starting tonight (March 4th). The Lions are 5/4 favourites with Bet Direct, while the Kiwis are 11/4 underdogs with Bet365 despite their home advantage. And, revealing that his side would be expected to finally start producing the goods, Vaughan admitted: "If we don't start doing it now then questions will be asked." He added: "We have to look to develop a team now that can beat New Zealand here, beat New Zealand at home and beat South Africa and progress towards those Ashes. "That is a long way off but the stabilisation of the team should be starting now if we're really going to have a chance of winning the Ashes. "There's a pressure as a unit to try and get ourselves back to consistent cricket. "This is a great opportunity to play good cricket, hopefully win some games and get some series wins under our belt." Meanwhile, New Zealand are rated at 3/1 with Party Bets to win the upcoming test series.
