Everton Loss Lengthens Uefa Cup Odds
Friday 07 March 2008 at 12:38 Everton's 2-0 defeat to Fiorentina has dented their chances of lifting this season's Uefa Cup. Following last night's (March 6th) away day misery, Everton's odds of winning the competition have drifted out to 16/1 with SkyBet. And with the second leg coming up next week, Toffees boss David Moyes has ordered his side to produce a better performance. "We now have a big job to do. They are a good team and on this performance we need to do much better," he said. "The performance was not good. I think we didn't start the game well and we gave the initiative to Fiorentina. They played well throughout." Bemoaning the Italian side's late goals, Moyes added: "Early on they had a couple of shots against us as a warning. "We should have defended their crosses and not given the midfield players the chance to get shots away." Meanwhile, Fiorentina have shortened their odds 8/1 with Party Bets and are now the second favourites, behind Bayern Munich, to win the Uefa Cup.
