England Feel Confident Against New Zealand
Thursday 13 March 2008 at 18:04 England cricket team coach Peter Moores believes that his side is now in control of the second test match against New Zealand, after a storming 155-run stand by Tim Abrose and Paul Collingwood on Thursday.
England had suffered several setbacks, falling to 136-5 before Ambrose (97 not out) and Collingwood (48 not out) lifted the team to 291-5 by the end of day one.
They are currently 1-0 down in the series, and the Kiwis are 8/11 favourites to win with Bet365, 8/13 with Paddy Power and 8/7 with Betfair.
England's chance of winning the series is rated at 3/1 by Bet365, 9/2 by Paddy Power and 16/5 by Betfair.
Speaking at the end of the day, Moores had kind words for Warwickshire wicket-keeper Ambrose.
"He played really nice, really nice. He has always been a strong cutter. What was nice today was that he worked very hard at getting into the ball.
"After halfway through the afternoon session, when we were under pressure and they bowled well, to come out with that - still five down on a wicket that has done a bit all day - is a pretty good position."
