Hamilton Victory Shortens Drivers Championship Odds
Monday 17 March 2008 at 16:08 Lewis Hamilton's impressive victory in the F1 opener in Australia on Sunday (March 16th) has shortened the Briton's odds of winning this year's drivers championship.
Hamilton qualified in pole position and held his nerve to compete the win, slashing his championship odds to 10/11 with Better.
Happy with the victory, the 23-year-old claimed that it was one of the best of his short career but admitted that there was still room for improvement.
"It's probably the best race I've had so far in terms of managing tyres, controlling my pace and confidence, and being comfortable in the car," Hamilton said.
"But it's not the perfect win. There are a lot of areas I can improve."
And claiming that Ferrari was still the team to beat this season, he added: "A lot of hype was put on them and they've obviously had a tough weekend, but you can't forget that they are a great team and they have a very good car and two great drivers."
McLaren are also the odds-on favourites to win the constructor's championship, priced at 4/5 with Ladbrokes.
