One-week Ban For Lawrence Dallaglio
Friday 28 March 2008 at 11:11 Lawrence Dallaglio has been suspended for one week by Wasps and as such will miss his side's premiership match against Leicester this weekend.
Dallaglio was given his temporary ban yesterday (March 27th) for hitting Tigers prop Julian White during the recent EDF Energy Cup semi-final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.
He will appear before a RFU disciplinary hearing on Tuesday and could face a further eight-week ban.
Leicester are currently pitted at 1/3 with Coral to beat Wasps tomorrow and are 9/4 favourites with Stan James to win the premiership at the end of April.
Skipper Dallaglio, 35, will retire at the end of this season, bringing an end to his 35-year career. However, if he is given an additional ban by the RFU he will already have played his last professional game.
Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards is hopeful that this will not be the case for the number eight.
He told the Daily Mirror: "We're desperate for Lawrence to finish the season with us. He is one of the greatest English rugby players of all time. There was a very, very small altercation with Julian and we decided internally to step him down. I'm sure he will get a fair hearing."
