Ameobi Set For Stoke Move
Friday 28 March 2008 at 12:31 Stoke City have agreed a contract with Newcastle for the temporary transfer of striker Shola Ameobi.
Ameobi will play for Stoke on loan until the end of this season and the championship club are hoping that his presence will provide a considerable boost to their performance and aid their promotion bid.
Stoke agreed the deal with Newcastle yesterday (March 27th) and the 26-year-old will make his debut for the Potters on Saturday in their match against Sheffield Wednesday, which they are 5/4 favourites with Ladbrokes to win.
Boss Tony Pulis is extremely pleased that Ameobi, who has scored 46 goals for Newcastle, will be joining the club.
Speaking to BBC Radio Stoke, he said: "We need to show everyone that we are giving promotion our best shot."
Stoke have also secured the loan of Derby midfielder Stephen Pearson for the rest of the season.
They are currently on odds of 4/5 with Paddy Power to finish in the top three and secure promotion to the premiership.
