Smith Wants Attacking Approach In Uefa Cup
Thursday 03 April 2008 at 10:52 Rangers manager Walter Smith wants his team to take a more attacking approach against Sporting Lisbon at Ibrox on Thursday night.
The Scottish league cup winners odds have come in to 11/10 with William Hill beat the Portuguese side in their Uefa Cup quarter-final first leg.
Rangers have kept clean sheets in their home games in the previous rounds, and their solid defensive displays have been a key in Rangers' progression.
Walter Smith told the club's website: "This time we hope we can cause Sporting more problems than we did to Werder Bremen."
The Ibrox team surprised many people by getting into the Uefa Cup having been drawn in a tough Champions League Group with Barcelona, Lyon and Stuttgart.
However, a victory away in Lyon and a home draw with Barcelona were the highlights as the Gers gained third place in the group.
Rangers are seen as outsiders to win the Uefa Cup this season, at 9/1 with 888sport. German giants
Bayern Munich are strong favourites at 7/4 with Boylesports to lift the trophy at the City of Manchester Stadium come May.
