Crouch Looks Ahead To Champions League Second Leg
Monday 07 April 2008 at 10:34 Peter Crouch has admitted he may consider quitting Liverpool in the summer in search of regular first-team football.
Leading scorer Fernando Torres is expected to start ahead of Crouch in Tuesday's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal, where the Reds' odds have come in to 11/8 with bet365 for victory.
Crouch scored the opening goal in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium but is likely to be back on the bench tomorrow night.
He has admitted: "It's pretty clear I probably won't start.
"Obviously if the manager plays one up front, he is more than likely to go with Fernando - and rightly so, he's been fantastic this season. If I want to have any aspirations of playing for England, or furthering my career, then I have to be playing - and that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment."
Crouch has confidence in Liverpool's chances of progressing to the semi-finals, pointing to a psychological edge gained from holding the Gunners to two 1-1 draws in the space of four days and saying they have "certainly not been outplayed at any time."
Liverpool are currently fourth favourite with the bookmakers at 5/ 1 with Paddy Power to lift the Champions League trophy for a second time in four years at the final, being held in Moscow this year.
