Darcheville Hoping To Be Gers Hero
Wednesday 09 April 2008 at 16:23 Jean-Claude Darcheville is confident he can find the net against Sporting Lisbon and be Rangers' hero.
The Scottish giants are the outsiders in the Uefa Cup quarter-final second leg in Lisbon with odds of 11/4 with Coral.
French striker Darcheville believes that the Portuguese side will leave gaps at the back whilst going on the offensive.
Speaking on the club's official website, he said: "Yes, I can score in Lisbon.
"If we continue to defend very well in Portugal this will create space which is very important for me to run in to."
The Gers' are hoping to reach the last four of the competition for the first time in 36 years and a score draw would be enough to send the Scottish side through on the away goals rule.
In other team news, Rangers expect Spanish defender Carlos Cuellar to take his place in the side and may also be able to call on Daniel Cousin, who has made a swift recovery from a broken jaw.
Rangers are currently far behind favourites Bayern Munich in the odds to lift the Uefa Cup. The Gers' are priced at 10/1 with 888sport, with the German giants leading the betting prices at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.
