United Close In On Title After Old Trafford Victory
Monday 14 April 2008 at 11:52 Sir Alex Ferguson thinks that victory in the next two Premier League games will secure the title after Manchester United beat Arsenal 2-1 on Sunday. The Red Devils are now in to 1/6 with skybet after the result at Old Trafford moved them six points clear of Chelsea.
A free-kick by Owen Hargreaves won the game after a Cristiano Ronaldo penalty had drawn United level. Emmanuel Adebayor had given Arsenal the lead just after half-time.
Ferguson said: "I thought it was a fantastic game, absolutely outstanding. You won't see a better game anywhere this season."
"If we win at Blackburn and at Chelsea we're champions. We've got over a nervous day," he added.
The result left Manchester United six points clear of Arsenal, and their trip to Stamford Bridge on April 26th could turn out to be the title decider.
Chelsea, currently with a game in hand, take on Wigan and Everton this week as they hope to emerge as real contenders.
The Blues are now the only realistic challengers at 4/1 with Coral.
