Winker Watson To Miss 2,000 Guineas
Monday 14 April 2008 at 11:57 Fancied horse Winker Watson has suffered a training setback and may not feature in the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The horse is currently priced at 10/1 with Partybets and was seen as one of the top potential runners after remaining unbeaten in his juvenile season.
Peter Chapple-Hyam, trainer of Winker Watson, told his website that the rider wasn't happy with the colt on the gallops and a scan found problems with the rear of the horse.
"It wouldn't be right for the horse if we pushed him and so it's highly unlikely that he will be running in the 2,000 Guineas", he added.
"Instead, I hope that we will be able to head to the Irish 2,000 Guineas with him or Royal Ascot."
Another of Mr Chapple-Hyam's horses, Fireside, has seen his odds tumble to 16/1 with BetFred after generating increased support in the market.
The favourite for the race at Newmarket, which takes place on May 3rd, is New Approach who is priced at 3/1 with 888sport.
