Selby Gunning For World Title
Friday 18 April 2008 at 11:48 Mark Selby is aiming to improve on last year's runner-up spot in the snooker World Championships.
He is seen as second-favourite for the Crucible title and is priced at 13/2 to lift the trophy.
Selby became only the third qualifier to reach a World Championship final 12 months ago, but lost out to John Higgins in the final. The current world number 11 begins his quest to be champion against Mark King in the first round.
He told PA Sport: "To get to the world championship final as soon as I did was a little bit of a shock to me but it's given me the self-belief I needed and I seem to have kicked on from that.
"Winning the world title is definitely top of my list and to stay in the top 16 for the rest of my career from now on. I'd like to get to world number one as well."
The favourite for the title is Ronnie O'Sullivan, despite being slammed by snooker's authorities for his behaviour at the China Open. He still faces a large fine or even a ban from the game.
O'Sullivan has odds of 7/2 with Better to win his third World Championship title.
