Birmingham In Relegation Trouble After Derby Beating
Monday 21 April 2008 at 11:45 Birmingham City were hammered 5-1 by their city rivals Aston Villa and end the weekend in the Premier League relegation places.
Following the defeat at Villa Park, the Blues' odds for relegation are now just 5/4 with SkyBet.
They are a point behind Reading and Bolton in the Premier League table and have games remaining against Liverpool, fellow strugglers Fulham and Blackburn.
Following Sunday's game, manager Alex McLeish said: "I am sure our fans will be embarrassed by the defeat by Villa. I don't like it, the players don't like it. We were on the end of a bruising from a really good Villa side.
"I always thought it would come down to the last three games and nothing has changed."
Ashley Young and John Carew both scored twice for Aston Villa. Mikael Forsell grabbed a consolation for Birmingham before Gabriel Agbonlahor netted a fifth for the home side.
Bolton's odds for relegation have gone out to 13/8 with Coral after recording two victories in a row which has pulled them out of the bottom three.
