Stephen Hendy believes he can win his eighth world title at the Crucible.

After producing a fightback to beat Mark Allen 10-9 in the first round, Hendry is priced at 20/1 with 888sport to lift the trophy at the World Championship.

The 39-year-old Scotsman said: "I've got to take confidence from a win like this, to be up against it all the way and come through in the end, and to win the last frame in style in one visit is very pleasing.

"I know I'm not down as one of the favourites but I know I'm easily capable of winning it."

Trailing the youngster Allen 6-3 after the first session, Hendry then needed to win the final three frames to book his place in the second round after being 9-7 down.

Hendry now faces either China's Ding Junhui or Hong Kong's Marco Fu in the last 16 of the competition.

Ronnie O'Sullivan remains the favourite for the Crucible title at 3/1 with Coral. He faces Liu Chuang from China in the first round on Wednesday.
