Ferguson Hails Talented Team
Wednesday 23 April 2008 at 10:40 Sir Alex Ferguson returns to the scene of his only Champions League victory urging his side to write their own chapter in the club's history.
Manchester United go into tonight's match against Barcelona at 2/1 with 888sport to win the first leg.
United last won the trophy at the Nou Camp in 1999, where late goals from Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave them victory over Bayern Munich.
Ferguson believes his present squad of players can shape their own history, saying: "It is almost ten years since we won the final. The team of today do not need to worry about the past and be reminded of the past.
"I also think that this is the most talented team but you can only confirm this at the end of the season, by what was won."
Edwin van der Sar and Wayne Rooney are fit to play after overcoming injury problems, however Nemanja Vidic missed training on Tuesday evening and is a doubt for the crucial first-leg encounter.
For Barcelona, Lionel Messi and Deco have returned but their skipper Carles Puyol is suspended and Ronaldinho misses the game through injury.
The Catalan giants are priced at 7/4 with Ladbrokes to emerge victorious from Wednesday's game.
