Blues Favourites For Semi-final Clash
Wednesday 30 April 2008 at 09:52 Avram Grant will tonight attempt to do something Jose Mourinho could not manage and guide Chelsea to Champions League semi-final success against Liverpool.
The Blues are in control of the tie having drawn 1-1 at Anfield in the first leg and are best priced at 8/15 with William Hill to progress and set up a final meeting with Manchester United in Moscow.
Liverpool have not recorded a victory or even scored at Stamford Bridge since 2004 and are 13/5 with PartyBets to win in 90 minutes and 17/10 with Sportingbet to reach the final.
Perhaps the man most likely to end the Reds' barren spell at the Bridge is 30-goal striker Fernando Torres and the Spaniard insists he is ready to do battle with Chelsea's physically imposing defence.
"John Terry and Ricardo Carvalho
do me an honour by giving me a tough time. Now I'm going to try to respond to them by getting a couple of goals against Chelsea," he said.
Torres is best-priced at 7/1 to score the first goal and 9/4 to find the net at any time with Ladbrokes. However, Chelsea's Didier Drogba is favourite to open the scoring at 6/1 with 888Sport.
