Fast Company Out Of 2,000 Guineas
Wednesday 30 April 2008 at 09:54
Fast Company will not run in Saturday's 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket, his owners have announced.
The colt, who finished second behind New Approach in last year's Dewhurst Stakes, had been expected to spearhead Godolphin's challenge for the Classic, but was pulled out following the results of a blood test.
Fast Company's withdrawal has strengthened New Approach's status as favourite - best-priced at 2/1 at Ladbrokes - as have rumours about the form of Jupiter Pluvius.
Media reports have suggested the Aidan O'Brien trained colt did not look ready for the race when tested on the gallops last week and that stable jockey Johnny Murtagh will instead ride Henrythenavigator.
The stories have helped to push Jupiter Pluvius out to 12/1 at Totesport, while Henrythenavigator has come in to 10/1 at the same bookmaker. However, punters planning to back Murtgah's expected ride can get 12/1 at Betfred.
Meanwhile, a spokesman for Newmarket has told the Racing Post that although the ground is currently good to firm, rain is expected on Wednesday, followed by showers on Thursday and Friday.
