Title Challengers Have Injury Worries
Friday 09 May 2008 at 08:38
Manchester United and Chelsea have fitness concerns about key players ahead of the vital final weekend of the Premier League season.
The two sides are level on points, but the Red Devils have a vastly superior goal difference and are 1/5 favourites at Skybet to win the title.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side travel to Wigan Athletic - a club they have never dropped a point against - but may be without Wayne Rooney and Nemanja Vidic.
The pair have been struggling with respective hip and head injuries and in normal circumstances Ferguson may have chosen to rest them with the Champions League final in mind. However, media reports suggest he is prepared to risk them at the JJB Stadium as there is so much at stake.
Chelsea - 10/3 with Coral to regain the title - host a Bolton Wanderers side who effectively secured their top-flight status with a scrappy 2-0 win against Sunderland last weekend.
The Blues may have to go into the game without central defender Ricardo Carvalho, who picked up a back injury during the 2-0 success at Newcastle United on Monday.
Punters who fancy the underdogs to shock one of the title challengers can back Wigan at 12/1 with VC Bet to beat the champions and Bolton at 16/1 with Bet365 to win at Stamford Bridge.
