Beckford Set For Whites Return
Monday 12 May 2008 at 09:04  Leeds United's hopes of reaching the League One playoff final have been boosted by the return to fitness of leading scorer Jermaine Beckford.
An ankle injury kept the 20-goal forward on the sidelines for the last four games of the league campaign, but he has been passed fit to face Carlisle United in the semi-final first leg at Elland Road on Monday.
The news has seen Beckford installed as 11/2 joint favourite with VC Bet to open the scoring in the first leg, alongside Dougie Freedman, who has found the target five times in 11 games since joining the Whites on loan from Crystal Palace.
Carlisle have received a rare piece of good news after a run of five games without a win saw them miss out on automatic promotion, with former Sunderland midfielder Paul Thirlwell deemed fit to play.
