Harrington Hoping For Home Success
Wednesday 14 May 2008 at 10:18 Padraig Harrington is desperate to rediscover his best form when he tees up at the Irish Open at Adare Manor on Thursday.
The 36-year-old missed the cut in The Players Championship at Sawgrass last week, but is still 8/1 favourite with Coral for his home open.
That price reflects the fact he won when the tournament moved to Adare Manor for the first time last year - a victory that meant a lot to him.
Harrington told the European Tour's official website he had always felt under great pressure to perform at the Irish Open and that finally winning it was a key moment in his career.
"It definitely was a big catalyst for going on to win The Open. I definitely felt more comfortable and I gained self-confidence from that win," he said.
Harrington is yet to taste success in 2008 but there are several Irishmen in form, as Graeme McDowell, Damien McGrane, Darren Clarke and Peter Lawrie are all recent victors on the European Tour.
Clarke is best-priced at 22/1 with 888Sport to win this week, while McDowell can be backed at 30/1 with Skybet, Lawrie at 55/1 with Betfred and McGrane at 66/1 with VC Bet.
