Favourite Federer To Take Care In Wimbledon Mens Semis
Friday 04 July 2008 at 08:41 Roger Federer is not taking his Wimbledon mens semi-final with former world number one Marat Safin lightly.
The five-time champion, who is 88/100 at Sportingbet to win the competition this year, told the press he is fully aware of Safin's capabilities and will not be looking past him to the final.
"Last year I wasn't happy to see Safin in my draw," the Swiss star remarked.
"I have to be very careful on Friday - once Safin's on a roll, he's quite unstoppable."
Safin has been the surprise package of the tournament so far, following his straight sets victory over Australian Open titlist Novak Djokovic in the second round.
But the bookies expect his luck to run out against Federer. Boylesports rates his chances of winning at 10/1, while Federer is 1/14 to triumph at William Hill.
In the other semi-final, second favourite Rafael Nadal (11/10, Boylesports) is expected to have an easy time against Rainer Schuettler.
The man who annihilated Andy Murray in the quarters is 1/40 to win the match at Boylesports, while his German opponent is 25/1 at Bet 365.
