Open Championship Favourite Confident With His Game
Tuesday 08 July 2008 at 09:02 Sergio Garcia is happy with his form ahead of next week's Major, the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
The Spanish favourite told the press he is "looking forward" to the championship and suggested he was confident that he is playing well enough to win.
However, Garcia warned that people should perhaps not expect him to putt as well as he did at the European Open last week.
The eventual runner-up only needed 21 putts on the final day during difficult conditions, helping him to card a remarkable 66 at the London Golf Club.
"I don't expect to putt like this every single round. I would love to - it would be a very easy game," he remarked.
Garcia added that "there are good positive things" about his game right now "and overall I'm very happy".
Punters wanting to back Garcia to continue Spain's dominance of the summer's major sporting events can get odds of 10/1 at Boylesports on the 28-year-old.
Ernie Els (14/1, VC Bet) is the second favourite, with Lee Westwood the best-backed of the British contingent at 16/1 with SkyBet.
