World Series Of Poker Final Table Betting Underway
Thursday 17 July 2008 at 08:43
The bookmakers have started taking bets on who will win the World Series of Poker main event when it starts up again on November 9th.
Nine players remain in card playing's richest competition following its summer conclusion on Tuesday.
Dennis Phillips is the leader, holding a stack which contains 26.295 million chips.
His marginal advantage over Ivan Demidov (24.4 million) has led to most bookmakers installing them as joint-favourites to win the title, with odds of 4/1 available on each at Sportingbet, Paddy Power and PartyBets.
Scott Montgomery is third with 19.69 million chips and PartyBets offer the best price on him winning at 5/1.
Montgomery is arguably the most decorated of the remaining players and is the only one to have competed in a televised final table before, at the LA Poker Classic earlier this year.
Peter Eastgate (13.75 million) is 6/1 to win at PartyBets, while Ylon Schwartz (15.525 million), Darus Suharto (15.2 million) and David Rheem (10.23 million) are all 10/1 at the same bookmaker.
The chances of Craig Marquis (10.21 million) taking down the $9 million prize are rated at 12/1 by Bet 365, with short stack Kelly Kim (2.62 million) is a 50/1 outsider at Paddy Power.
