Bin Suroor Confident About Alexandros
Friday 09 May 2008 at 08:17
Godolphin trainer Saeed Bin Suroor is expecting a strong performance from Alexandros in the Addleshaw Goddard Dee Stakes at Chester on Friday.
The colt won three times in France last year, but finished third behind Myboycharlie and subsequent 1,000 Guineas winner Natagora in the group one Darley Prix Morny at Deauville last time out.
That form has seen Alexandros installed as 3/1 second favourite with Paddy Power for the 2:15 at Chester, even though the race will represent a series of firsts for him.
It will be his first test over ten furlongs, his seasonal debut and the first race in which he has been ridden by Godolphin stable jockey Frankie Dettori.
Despite that, Bin Suroor is optimistic about Alexandros's prospects following his summer move from Andre Fabre's stable.
"He is fit and healthy. It will be a tough race to win but we are looking forward to a good performance from our colt on his first start this year," he told Godolphin's official website.
Coolmore's Achill Island - who finished sixth of seven runners on heavy ground over ten furlongs in the Prix La Force at Longchamp last time out - is 9/4 favourite with Betfred.
