Favourites Safely Through In World Matchplay Darts

The two favourites to win the 2008 Stan James World Matchplay championship at Blackpool's Winter Gardens successfully made it through the quarter-finals last night.
Reigning champion James Wade was given a good test by Matt Clark, but managed to produce a 97.

Reigning Stan James World Matchplay champion James Wade has suggested he has plenty left in reserve as the 2008 tournament reaches its latter stages in Blackpool.
The Aldershot player looked in excellent form last night, managing a 97.

Phil "The Power" Taylor put in by far the most impressive performance of any player during round one of the Stan James World Matchplay tournament in Blackpool last night.
The 13-time world champion averaged 103.

King Out Of World Matchplay Darts

Mervyn King was knocked out in the first round of the Stan James World Matchplay championship last night.
The 2004 World Masters winner was defeated 10-7 by Colin Osborne as the tournament got underway at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Taylor Wins Las Vegas Desert Classic Warm Up

Phil Taylor has demonstrated that he is in excellent form going into this week's Las Vegas Desert Classic.
The Power cruised to victory in yesterday's Las Vegas Players Championship, defeating Ronnie Baxter in the final following wins over Mark Walsh and Michael van Gerwen, planetdarts.
