This will be the ninth year in which six teams have competed in the competition and England and France have dominated over the last eight years winning seven tournaments between them (France have won four times with England winning three). The only team to break the English and French monopoly is Wales who won in 2005.
Since 1990, which includes the Five Nations, only four times has the tournament been won by Scotland or Wales. Irelands last win was 1985 and Italy have yet to win in eight attempts.
Six Nations 2008
France have rightly been named 6/4 favourites with Blue Square for this years tournament with England right behind them in the betting at 5/2 with Stan James. Ireland are 5/1 third favourites with Stan James despite their poor record over recent years. Wales are 9/1 with Totesport, Scotland are 14/1 with Stan James and Italy complete the betting as 100/1 outsiders at Blue Square.
This has to be between France and England due to their impressive recent record and england will be very popular after reaching the final of the World Cup yet again. Englands limitations were shown up in that game and they should be vulnerable to the French challenge again giving France a great chance of making it a hat-trick of wins.
