Liam Rosenior, the former Tiger, returned to manage the East Yorkshire club in November 2022 and was sacked in May 2024.  This is a list of potential candidates for the next manager at Hull City drawn from previous betting markets when the job was available, and some that fit the profile of previous Hull City managers.

Tim Walter

The German coach has not been considered previously for managerial positions in England but the bookmakers have installed him towards the head of the next Hull City manager market. His most recent appointment was at Hamburg SV (July 2021 - February 2024).

Will Still

The former manager of French Ligue One side Reims seems to be popping up in a range of next-manager markets. He is only 31, but his tenure at the northern French club alerted football boardrooms on this side of the Channel.

managerial positions in England but the The former Fulham, Bournemouth and Club Brugge manager  has twice won promotion to the EPL, in  2020 with Fulham and in 2022 with Bournemouth.

Paul Heckingbottom

Barnsley born Heckingbottom was sacked by Sheffield United in December 2023. We suspect the Hull City vacancy would be of interest, the bookies seem to agree.

Alex Rae

The current Glasgow Rangers first-team coach is a name that keeps cropping up for EFL vacancies. Rae has only managed Scottish sides, having previously been at Dundee and St Mirren.

Anthony Barry

Mikolaj Barbanell//shutterstockFrom Bayern Munich to Hull City? Anthony Barry is an up-and-coming coach who is regularly touted for a Championship managerial position. His previous appointments include assistant manager roles at Chelsea, the Republic of Ireland, Portugal, and Belgium national teams.

Alex  Neil

The Scot has managed five clubs with varying degrees of success. His best spells came at Norwich City and Sunderland where he guided those clubs into the playoffs.

Nigel Pearson

The well-traveled Nigel Pearson was in charge at Hull City in 2010. His time at the club went reasonably well, but he was tempted away after just one season to rejoin his former club, Leicester City.

Sergen Yalcin

Yalcin was heavily supported ahead of Liam Rosenior being appointed. The Istanbul-born manager has no football managerial experience away from Turkey, but with Hull having Turkish owners, it would not be a surprise were they to select a man whose football style they know.

Carlos Carvalhal

At the time of writing, the charismatic 57-year-old Carlos Carvalhal has managed 21 clubs across Europe, including two on these shores: Sheffield Wednesday (2015-17) and Swansea (2017-18). When a vacancy arises in the Sky Bet Championship, the Portuguese-born Carvalhal is one of the bookmaker's go-to candidates.

Dean Smith

Walsall, Brentford, Aston Villa, Norwich City, Leicester City have all been managed by Dean Smith. His reputation has taken a knock in recent years but has shown he can guide clubs out of the EFL Championship.

Andy Dawson

Andy Dawson has stepped into caretaker positions at both Scunthorpe United and Hull City. He could have been given the Tigers vacancy when Arveladze left but was not selected, which may temper betting on him being the next Hull City manager.
