Gordon Elliott's Wingmen is a six-year-old who made an eye-catching debut when storming to an eight-length success in a Naas bumper in December, staying on strongly and looking like one who will stay further in time. Although he finished well clear of the winner in third on his next start back at Naas, he travelled okay for most of the race and just lacked that extra pace on the line to the finish.

Ashdale Bob has been around for years and really should have more than 3 wins to his name. He just lacked the stamina to win the Grade 1 staying hurdle races. This time last year he finished a close fifth in the Grade 1 stayers hurdle won by Klassical Dream. Jessica Harrington has mainly campaigned him over shorter trips since January. The handicapper has relented dropping Ashdale Bob down 6lbs to a mark of 144. Conor Smithers rides and his 7lb claim leaves Ashdale Bob effectively racing from a mark of 137. He is too good a horse to ignore off that sort of rating even if carrying 11-5. This easy 2m7.5f trip is ideal, and I think he will run a big race today.

Trainer Barry Connell had him ready to run in the Grand Annual handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival only for the ground to turn soft. He is a 10yo that has won 5 times from only 14 starts. Enniskerry is a big chasing type who gets his ground today at Punchestown. He looked a natural over fences, winning his first two chases easily at Galway & Roscommon. Barry tested him in the Grade 1 Dinmore Chase in 2022, but he didn't jump well out of testing ground. They gave him a shot at the Galway Plate where he ran well but ran out of stamina up the hill finish. A strongly run chase over an extended two miles on spring ground looks the job.

Alan King is always to be respected with his three-year-old middle-distance runners and the form of Rakki's most recent Chelmsford fifth has received several boosts in recent days, with the runner-up Space Legend bolting up in a Leicester maiden and the sixth, Judgementofsolomon, winning on his handicap debut at Wolverhampton on Monday night.

Paul Nolan's Park of Kings has taken time to build on his early promise in bumpers. The application of a tongue tie at the start of this season seems to have helped with his breathing. He won twice at the start of this season at Roscommon and Punchestown over two miles. Those wins proved he has speed for a horse bred to stay further. Heavy ground proved his undoing at Gowran, and then he ran well to place third at Leopardstown over two miles at Christmas. Paul upped him in trip to three miles at the Dublin racing festival in a listed three-mile handicap. He ran well to finish fifth and will benefit from dropping down to today's intermediate trip of 2m3.5f. Connections have booked Aidan Kelly who is an experienced conditional jockey.

James Fanshawe's East India Dock finished down the field on both his starts as a two-year-old last year, but has been gelded since and showed more on his reappearance over today's course and distance. In a race that was fairly steadily run, he was up against it from off the pace, but kept on to post a satisfactory effort. One place behind him that day, and also having his third run for a mark, was the Andrew Balding-trained Contacto. That colt has since won by seven lengths on his handicap debut at Doncaster, and an identical mark of 66 may well underestimate James Fanshawe's gelding as well, especially considering he's a half-brother to Burdett Road, who's developed into a very useful performer on the Flat and over hurdles.

Venetia Williams has a strong chance with Martator in this novice’s handicap chase. He jumps well and has not finished outside the first three in all his eight starts over fences. I thought that soft ground was important for this horse, but he proved me wrong with a tidy win at Ascot last month. I was more impressed with the fact he coped with a drop in trip on good ground as that race was over 2m1f. The handicapper has raised him 5lbs to 127 which is fair and workable. Martator will enjoy going back out in trip to 2m4f. He travels and jumps well and will be staying on strongly up the hill finish carrying a low weight of 10-6 with Charlie Deutsch riding.

He ran over course and distance when second in a listed novice hurdle on heavy ground, last December. That was a three-runner race and Helnwein needs a fast run race where he can come from behind. He finished fourth at Kempton in a Grade 2 hurdle race won by Lump Sum. Last time out. He finished runner-up to Secret Squirrel at Taunton. This stiffer and more galloping course will help reverse placings with Secret Squirrel along with the fact he is 5lbs better off at the weights against that rival here. James Ferguson's Engelbert finished down the field on his reappearance at Southwell, but the outing should have brought him on, and he now returns to the course and distance over which he's recorded his two best runs. Last March he was an easy winner here, and in October he was runner-up to Doctor Khan Junior. That latter effort is particularly strong form, the winner going on to complete a four-timer and rating 26lb higher than when he beat Engelbert in the first of his wins. The third also won next time out.

David O'Meara's Bopedro won this race last season off a rating of 97. He is rated three lbs higher this time round but has conditions to suit. A strongly run mile on good ground is just the job on a galloping course. Bopedro has shown a liking for Newmarket around both the July and Rowley mile courses. He has won on both courses and placed third on his other runs on each course. I think he is well drawn high in stall 14 with pace around him from stalls 16 & 17. Bopedro should be fit and ready following two runs on the all-weather at Lingfield.

Hugo Palmer's Watcha Matey is a huge price here The gelding ran three solid efforts on a sound surface over six and seven furlongs last season. Including winning a novice race over seven here in August his last two runs were on unsuitable soft ground. I think at 50/1 with four places being paid he is a good EW bet.

The James Evans trained Dream Composer won this race last year, before landing decent pots at Goodwood and Sandown, and returns off a lb lower mark than his victory 1 twelve months ago. With a recent pipe-opener at Doncaster under his belt he could well go in again,
