Pigeon House a 4yo gelding trained by Mrs John Harrington made handicap hurdle debut in the Boodles at Cheltenham and finished a distant 9/22 which was a big ask and runs in much calmer waters today off a 6lb lower handicap mark on 118 - on penultimate start finished 2/13 at Gowran Park - the winner Karl Des Tourelles has finished 2-2 since posting a career high RPR of 133 - the 3/13 Barrier has won his last race - the 4/14 Pinot Gris 37.5l behind winner RPR 87 has since gone 3-1 posting a career high RPR of 111 - the 5/14 Club Manager won two starts later - three starts back finished runner up at Punchestown and finished 1.75l ahead of Lark In The Mornin who won the Boodles at Cheltenham - so the form of previous two races before Cheltenham has worked out well and there is definitely a race to be won with Pigeon House off 118 and today has the capable assistance of Nico de Boinville and may appreciate today's better ground

This is a low grade 0-55 handicap which can go the way of the Michael Dods trained Happy Helen a 3yo filly out of Golden Horn who makes handicap debut and is stepped up to a mile for the first time which she should appreciate - out of a late developing dam who won three times over a mile posting a career high RPR of 88 - todays opening mark of 56 shouldn't hold any fears - trainer Michael Dods does well at Redcar landing 56 wins since 2012 and is 12/69 in May which bodes well and his Happy Helen can make a winning 3yo debut under Sean Kirrane

Willie Mullins has seemed to have found Mistergif a good opportunity to resume winning ways today - won on debut in Ireland beating Ballycallan King (received 2lb) by an easy 18l and Ballycallan King won next time out posting a career high RPR of 120 - Mistergif has been highly tried since - Fifth in the Supreme Novices at Cheltenham and will be hard to beat if recovered from Grade 1 Aintree bid - this represents a big drop in class and Mistergif has to enter today's staking plan

A chance is taken with Luminous Light a 5yo gelding trained by Anthony McCann who is doubly entered at this Punchestown festival due to run on May 2nd - pulled up last time out but previously finished runner up in a listed handicap hurdle and three starts back finished 3/11 at Fairyhouse (form I like posting a RPR of 117 ) behind Waterford Whispers (RPR 125) and Answer To Kayf (RPR 131) and those two horses have since finished 2nd and 4th in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham posting career high RPR of 139 and 141 - Luminous Light could be fairly thin off 117 under the experienced Conor Brassil in this very competitive handicap - trainer Anthony McCann whilst not prolific has his yard in form sending out two winners on the flat in his last four starters and nearly landed a gamble yesterday with Big Dream and Luminous Light is definitely one to consider at 33-1

It's interesting there is money for Baileys Khelstar for Mark Johnston perhaps because his stable mate Cool Party beat today's favourite Robusto by 2l over today's CD but I'm siding with the James Owen trained Enthused who remains unexposed on AW with one placing 3/8 over an inadequate mile - on penultimate start on flat then was given an impossible task on last flat in a class 2 again over an inadequate trip of a mile - 3/12 on turf twice winning twice over 1m 4f off 80-82 and has since won five hurdles over further than todays 1m 6f and whilst an unknown on the flat it should suit and cango close off 79 with Aidan Keeley 3lb and despite drifting in the early market exchanges I would expect a late flurry of money come post time

Squire Danagher a 4yo gelding trained by Andrew Oliver comes here in great form winning last two races at Dundalk the latter beating Celtic Revival (received 5lb and is a good yardstick 5/22 wins on AW) - that win come off the back of a gelding operation which was strange given Squire Danagher had won previous race - reverts to turf today under Billy Lee (won on him last twice) - Andrew Oliver hasnt been amongst the winners and Squire Danagher is his only winner in last 90 days but he has been knocking on the door of late placing 3 of his last 5 runners 20-1 25-1 and 80-1 all in maidens so his yard must be in good nick as that's not easy to do against top stable and Squire Danagher is my short priced banker of the day

Tipsy Tiger a 3yo filly trained by William Stone could prove to be a fly in the ointment here at 33-1 and off bottom weight on just 8st 9lb - a winner on penultimate start beating Roman Secret (won next time out at 25-1) over 8.5f on heavy ground - Stone steps his charge up to 10f today on seasonal reappearance and encounters good ground for the first time since debut but this should suit being out of a dam Tigerfish (IRE) coincidentally trained by William Stone who improved with racing winning 9 times five of which come over 10f+and she loved to hear her feet rattle winning five times on good and good to firm ground - William Stone also does well at Sandown sending 11 runners here in recent years and entered the winners enclosure on 4 occasions and his filly could prove to be a lively outsider at 33-1 under the useful Pierre-Louis Jamin

Oisin Murphy is a rare visitor to Beverley having had just 21 rides in the last 10 years but rarely leaves empty handed riding 9 winners and today he rides Dambuster who made a favourable impression winning on 2yo debut at Sandown (both #2 and #3 have won since) and Andrew Balding thought Dambuster was good enough to contend a Group 3 on next start but finished 4/4 and swiftly put away for the winter - Oisin Murphy has ridden five times for Andre Balding at Beverley and when combined they are 1-2-1-2-4-1 and as such Dambuster is my short priced banker of the day
