Con O' Keefe's French 5 year old Mare KILBARRY SAINT Could be a future Black type selection that is yet to be seen but I can only go on what I've seen which is two back to back good runs, Beating a subsequent winner by 6 lengths @Clonmel then jumped massively up to Grade 2 company last month outrunning her massive 80/1 odds to finish 2nd @Fairyhouse. This Daughter of SAINT DES SAINTS has the pedigree to run on this faster ground. This Jockey (Danny Gilligan) trainer combination is still in its infancy but its yielded 1 win 2 places (from 3 runs) the past year. This charge could be on the up as she drops in class here today & could hit the frame here at Decent odds.

My intrigue can't let me pass up Vincent Halley's 6 year old Gelding SENECIA whilst his recent formline fails to flatter it would seem he's been run on the wrong going throughout the winter, Being a Son of ASK would tell you he wouldnt want all that juice in the ground. If we roll back the seasons & go back to the Spring where he got the ground his DNA wanted he performed well Winning @Ballinrobe beating a good charge HERCULE DE SUIEL 1¼ lengths & wasn't far behind WATCH HOUSE CROSS on the follow up @Wexford & also ran Well in Grade 3 company in October here @Punchestown losing by a Neck in a race that had PATH D'OROUX 18 Lengths behind. There is simply too much here for me totally write off at 50/1 for an Interesting Charge getting the conditions it seems like he wants.

Peter Fahey's 6 year old Gelding SIGN FROM ABOVE 'Should' appreciate this better going after failing to make an impact this term on Heavy when returning from a break. This Son of SEA THE STARS ran well on ground he wouldn't have been in love with (Heavy) in Class 2 company @Chepstow on his antepenultimate run & NOW arrives here 9lbs lighter. Jockey Sam Ewing is booked & decent place strike rate here the past 5 Years with a 24.32% whilst trainer Peter Fahey has a similar record with a 28.57% place strike rate. Big odds here with 6 places for a Charge that 'should' sail more smoothly over better ground.

Joeri Goossens 5 year old French Filly ROMANTIC ROSE has failed to kick on from some good performances in much deeper waters last year Including a 2nd (by a Neck) here @Chantilly (AW £17k race) then followed up again on the AW in a £26K race (1¾ off the winner), This Daughter of NATHANIEL didn't disgrace herself in Quinte+ company @Fontainebleau (4 lengths £33k Good ground) in September so why such big odds? This charge seems to struggle when returning from a break the results don't lie; two breaks two last place finishes but this charges run 33 days ago showed some glimpses, She was certainly entitled to strip fitter for a break & rallied late on to finish strong in a blanket finish not too far off the prize money. If this charge can pick up where she left off last year she looks very dangerous now potentially tuned up.

Gordan Elliott's 7 year old Gelding THE GOFFER was running well 18 days in The Grand national but faded out come the business end of the mammoth trip. This Son of YEATS now drops 4lb bringing him to a very competitive mark of 143. This charge has equitted himself well in a Plethora of big festival races & whilst he's never embarrassed himself he just seems stretched (in my humble opinion) so the drop back to this distance range (20f-22) in which all his conquests have come should be welcomed. Top Jockey Jack Kennedy is rebooked & is gunning for the Jockey Championship. It's been a while since we've had a drop in Mark this low for this lad who's been in plenty of big battles & I'm not so sure why it's taken this long to drop him to this distance either way 5 places up for grabs looks good enough for me.

It's been a while since William Walton's 6 year old French Filly AZUR AS WELL has ran over her Preferred 7f, This Daughter of PENNYS PICNIC ran ok at this level in her last handicap run @Bordeaux Le Bouscat over 8f just 5 lengths off the winner she now arrives here 4lbs lighter when including Jockey Anaelle Mekouche's 3lb claiming allowance. The Soft Ground will play into this Course & distance winners favour. An interesting little contest for the level but I'm happy to Play each way with this Filly that 'Could' be seen in a better light back in trip & back on familiar turf.

Paul Nolan's 5 year old French Gelding JOYAU DE THAIX Ran well 32 days ago @Fairyhouse in a listed Contest & was certainly not just treading water he was throwing down a challenge in the dying embers but faded (although he plugged on Valiantly) so the drop down in Class & trip (to 19½) looks interesting. This Son of KARAKTAR's penultimate run here @Punchestown (20f) isn't as bad as the result looks as he was certainly in with a shout but pecked on landing three out. The better going would be a slight concern but this Charge is now 2lbs lower thanks to Jockey Shane O'Callaghan's claim. Trainer Paul Nolan has his yard in Fine fettle currently with a 16.67% Win & 41.67% place strike rate the past fortnight. 6 places on offer which gives this French Grey a fighting chance dropping down in Class.

Top claiming Jockey Conor Stone-Walsh sheds 5lbs off this already bottom weighted charge. Yard are in Form & have a great record here in County Kildare the past year. Certainly not one to write off here on Handicap Debut.

50/1 for Jim Bolger's 3 year old Gelding SOUND MOVE looks more than fair to me, This Son of BELARDO didn't run badly on Handicap Debut @Gowran Park 5 days ago considering this was after a 152 day break I felt he equitted himself well keeping on & actually finished the final furlong faster than the rest. Trainer has a 37.18% Place strike rate with quick turn arounds & has a decent strike rate with Jockey Declan McDonagh the past year. Upped 1f today could help this charge with 5 places on offer I can't watch this one pass me by.

You get the feeling that much more has been expected of Jessica Harrington's 4 year old Gelding POLAR BEAR there is obviously still time but it's clear on recent form that this son of KODI BEAR does not enjoy the Flat surface @The Curragh but has shown a liking for the undulating nature here @Naas & @Navan performing well in much deeper contests than he faces here (don't get me wrong there are some big sharks in this race). The Forecasted County Kildare rain would be welcomed by this charge who now drops 3lbs back to his Basement mark of 77 now 5lbs below his last winning mark. Visor now replaces cheekpieces in a tactic that has worked for this lad in the past. Jockey Shane Foley has oversaw all of this charges best form & is rebooked (replacing claimer). A tough contest here but a return to a track this charge prefers 3lbs lighter could see this selection in a much better light running off bottom weight.

Thomas Dowling's newly acquired 4 year old Filly SPIRIT OF EAGLES would have been entitled to her last run 15 days ago @Dundalk on her Yard debut so I'm more than happy to chalk that one off. The Stiff finish here @Navan should play into this Daughter of GLENEAGLES Strengths if her better past performances @Down Royal are anything to go by, with her last run a very credible 3rd ¾ off the winner running from out the handicap on ground she wouldn't have been in love with, The better ground should suit much better. The handicapper knocks 1lb along with the booking of 7lb claimer Chloe Byrne certainly helps this Filly. With 6 places on offer I'm more than happy to take 40/1 for a charge that likes a stiff finish on the ground she likes.

This charge was not far off on two separate occasions in Deeper Company (£17k contests) on the All weather recently both @Deauville (9½f) & the booking of Top Jockey Cristian Demuro is very positive. Should the hoof rust have been knocked off with 5 places on offer this experienced charge could hit the frame here at big value odds.

Michel Kreb's 10 year old German Gelding RONALDO came from out of nowhere 29 days ago here @Chantilly (9½f All weather track) to nearly score from way off the pace. This Son of SCALO is upped 2lbs for that which seems more than fair. Jockey Frida Valle Skar retains the reigns (and rightly so) & keeps this charge honest with her 3lb claim. I'd prefer this charge to be drawn out wide again as he like a big uninterrupted surge but I'm happy to side with this Old Boy who runs in almost identical conditions here again.

Kevin Coleman's 9 year old Gelding SWISS ARMY OFFICER returns back on the track after a 197 day sabbatical, This Son of SWISS SPIRT returned from a similar absence at the beginning of last term to land the spoils @Roscommon (7f Good/Yielding) which is positive, Another positive is this charges record here @Cork with a 57% Place strike rate (from 7 runs). Going won't be a problem for this versatile lad who has never been too far away from this mark. Trainer & Jockey (Nathan Crosse) are running to a decent level this year with a 15.79% Win 31.58% place strike rate when working together. I don't think you can totally write off this Veteran who returns fresh & loves these tight turns.

Top Jockey Darragh O'Keefe steps up to pilot here & has place form with this charge. If this was anywhere else in Ireland I'd avoid like the plague but with it being here I'm adding my 2nd 'Tentative' tip of the day (with small Each Way Stakes) for a yard that are currently in Fine Fettle.

Denis Hogan's 7 year old Gelding WILD HUNT certainly wouldn't be having many people circling in this morning's Racing Post newspaper BUT digging in a bit deeper there does appear some snippets that look a bit more positive. This Son of DUBAWI's best RPR rating (120) was @Cork (2nd 1¼l 24f Good) with his 2nd best @Listowel (24f Good) both of these are Flat Sharp tracks & were deeper races, This Charge is now 9lbs lower than that Listowel run. Those runs were very good considering the majority of this lads better form has come with a bit more give in the ground which he gets here today,(Yielding/Soft Currently). Trainer & Jockey (Daniel King) have both been running well togther recently with a 20% Win 40% Place strike rate the past fortnight. This charge continues to drop down the handicap (with another 3lbs) but im happy to side with this lad (albeit tentatively) with Small EW Stakes.

Current 25/1 odds look more than fair to me for Mark McNiff's 8 year old Mare ROSSIES TARA who returns back from a 180 day absence off the track. This Daughter of KAYF TARA has ran well fresh previously with successive 2nd place finishes when returning last summer with the first run back here @Bellewstown this was followed up with a closer 2nd @Sligo 1lb higher than she arrives here. The April showers have (Hopefully) subsided & the drying ground (which sits currently - Yielding) should suit this charge much better. Jockey Phillip Enright takes the ride today & had a decent ride last time out on this charge & finished well @Tramore despite being hampered, Pilot was also in the plate for that good 2nd @Sligo. The More sun the better but in happy to take my chance that this Mare is invigorated & ready to go with 5 places on offer at value odds.

David Marnane's 3 year old Filly BASILAH BEAR picked up a victory @Naas on his penultimate with the 2nd placed horse winning since, This Daughter of KODI BEAR has ran here @Gowran Park (experience here is massive in my humble opinion) and whilst she only managed 3rd 7½ lengths (on Heavy ground) that day the 1st & 2nd placed horses that day have since both placed in Class 2 company (both finishing within 1 length) & this race is much lower in class. Naas winning Jockey Luke McAteer steps back into the plate & has a 35% place strike rate here @Gowran Park the past year. There isn't any Rain forecast here in County Kilkenny which 'should' help dry out this ground a tad which would be better suited to this Filly but either way hitting the frame here certainly wouldn't be out of the question dropping in class.

Should this charge have banged off the hoof rust he could go well at a track he has ran well on previously.

Aengus King's 5 year old Gelding CARSLAKE's recent form lines wouldn't exactly inspire confidence but this Son of TAMAYUZ did clock a career best RPR 106 @Cork (16f Heavy) & he just didn't get the conditions he wanted at all last term (Flat, Sharp & Testing Ground) aswell as racing in deeper class contests. It's interesting to see this lad not doing awfully @Dundalk (Left Flat Sharp) keeping on in 12+ Furlong Contests & should strip fitter here after a run out on the all weather (again in deeper class) 11 days ago (after a 194 day break). This once rated 108 chsrge has dropped 16lbs down the handicap & gets a sharp track on testing ground dropping in class off a career low mark. Should Phillip Fenton's 8 year old Gelding GARCON DOUX be ready to fire at the first time of asking whilst returning from a 259 day sabbatical then I don't think this charge should be overlooked so easily. This Son of VALIRAAN has had some decent runs over the 19-21f range (In deeper company than this) but just hasn't got home so I can see why the Trainer has opted to drop this lad back to his winning trip (16f Won @Cork 50/1). This Charge has ran well here in County Waterford previously (2 places from 3 runs) & is now 3lbs below his last winning mark. Trainer Philip Fenton's record here @Tramore is worth nothing the past year with a 55.56% place strike rate (5 places from 9 runs) with a respectable 27.09% Place strike rate with his runners returning from an extended break. Jockey Niall Moore sheds 7lbs off this charge who drops to a career low mark. Drop in Weight, Drop in Class, Drop in Trip could be the answer.

Pat Murphy's 5 year old Mare UN BACIO ANCORA has spent the best part of 6 months under the lights @Dundalk where she has had a few OK runs but nothing that would set the world on fire, She however (I believe) has been running the wrong trip & returns back to her more favourable 6f here today where all her better form has come, Interesting is this Daughter of NO NAY NEVER's runs here last autumn; A 2nd place finish here behind a handy sort (Yosemite Valley) was then bettered here again with a very respectable 8th position treading water with some big sharks & now arrives back on the turf 17lbs lower. Jockey Killian Leonard has hit a bit of form & has a 100% place strike rate with Trainer Pat Murphy the past year. Dropping down in Trip & Weight & returning to the Turf for the first time in 6 months back on a track that has resulted in two decent results. 50/1 with 6 places on offer looks more than fair to me.

Currently trading at 40/1 has me very intrigued with Michael Mulvany's 4 year old Gelding SOMETHING NICE who has some nice back form in the bank; Winning by 4½ lengths @Cork last Year then followed this up with ½ 2nd in a big Value handicap @Naas. This Son of ESITHKAAR was also only ½ behind CRYSTAL BLACK last August here @The Curragh on ground he wouldn't have been in love with. This Charge runs well fresh so the 190 days off & now gets the services of a 7lb claimer in the shape of Jockey Sean Bird negating any rise in the Handicap. So why 40/1 odds? The Trip of 5f has never been tried before, The Sire form gives us a 40% place strike rate from a very small sample, but at these odds on ground that not all of these will take to, Running Fresh & light as a feather (Thanks to Jockey) im happy to dip my toe in Each Way & See.

Gavin Cromwell's 8 year old Gelding BROKEN ICE looks a tad too high here currently at 20/1 & unlike a few here has ran well fresh, This Son of BORN TO SEA would ideally like a little less cut in the ground but did place here over 3mile on Softer ground back in November & has ran well here @Tramore over both disciplines on previous attempts. Top Jockey Keith Donoghue is back in the saddle & knows how to get a tune out of this charge. Dropping back in Class could help bring this lad along fresh. Hitting the frame certainly wouldn't be a forlorn hope.

Jessica Harrington's 4 year old Gelding POLAR BEAR returned from a 139 day break to finish a respectable 5th keeping on here 33 days ago (5f Heavy). This Son of KODI BEAR drops in class & is now 2lbs below his last win @Bellewstown (6f Heavy OR 82). Talented 7lb Claiming Jockey Keithen Kennedy is very good value for his claim & currently has a 62.50% place strike rate this past fortnight. The draw in Stall [#22] is another positive. Very good current odds of 18/1 for a charge looking well weighted dropping in class & back up in trip. I can't ignore this one & with 6 places on offer here I'm more than happy to nail my colours to the mast with this charge.

I'm certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth but I'm not entirely sure why Fergal O'Brien's 8 year old Gelding AUTONOMOUS COULD is currently trading at 20/1. This Son of the mighty FLEMENSFIRTH more than made up for her Run in the Welsh National over Christmas (where she was presumably having breathing difficulties as she was pulled up for bleeding from the nose) by finishing 4th in the Midlands National @Uttoexter (34f Heavy 7¼l) The first time headgear that was applied (Tongue Tie) remains on here today which is a positive aswell as the drop back in trip & 1lb lighter. The Track here @Ayr has a similar makeup to Uttoxeter Another positive, The Jockey Booking of Jonothan Burke looks good with this Jockey having a fantastic record here with a 25% Win 37.50% Place strike rate here the past 5 years. 6 places on offer with a price too high to ignore (in my humble opinion)

Thomas Doyle's 7 year old Mare SIMPLY SIDEWAYS can be forgiven for her last time runs, Her penultimate here came (8f Heavy) after a 136 day break in much deeper class & in fairness it wasnt an awful she was making headway but struggled for room come the business end, Last time outs run @Cork(7f Heavy) looked too sharp running a trip she rarely runs. The return back up in trip certainly looks a positive with this daughter of SIR PRANCEALOT just ¾ length off the winner 1lb higher in Class 2 company here in November on Heavy Ground. Jockey Wayne Hassett is fantastic value for his 7lb claim & has a fantastic record with this Charge with 1 win/1 place (from 3 runs) aswell as a great record here @The Curragh with a 25% Win & 75% place strike rate over the past year. Certainly not one to rule out here back up in trip.

I'm not entirely sure why Eric McNamara's 9 year old Gelding MY FRIEND THE WIND is currently trading at 40/1, This Son of SHOLOKHOV has proven to run well fresh & has placings of 1/3/1 when doing so with his last victory coming here @Ballinrobe off a mark of 92. 7lb claiming Jockey David Doyle keeps this charge competitive here & has a 50% place strike rate when running for Trainer Eric McNamara who has a decent strike rate here in County Mayo with a 25% Win 37.50% place strike rate the past year. The sticking point (no pun intended) would be the ground, this charge would probably prefer it less tacky BUT has placed on testing ground previously. At these big odds I'm more than happy to play each way.

Phillip Rothwell's 5 year old Gelding WITHOUT EXCEPTION benefited from a 4lb drop in the ratings (aswell as a drop in trip) 33 days ago @Down Royal (20f Soft) where he plugged on nicely from off the pace to finish 3rd outrunning his huge 66/1 odds he was not for catching the front 2 (who have Won & finished 2nd Since) but was 2¾ clear of the 4th Place finish. This Son of SANS FRONTIERES remains on his Mark of 82 & is dropped back a furlong to 19f Which looks a positive. Jockey Sean O'Keefe has a 32% place strike rate the past month aswell as a 66.67% place strike rate when running for trainer Philip Rothwell the past year. 14/1 current odds look more than reasonable for a charge who looks to be on the up.

Paul Gilligan's 5 year old Grey Gelding KINGS HILL drops massively in grade here after massively outrunning his 150/1 odds when finishing just 15 lengths off in the Novices supreme hurdle @Cheltenham this Son of KINGSTON HILL 'Should' be more adept in this depth of race & won by 3¾ lengths @Thurles on Soft/Heavy Ground in February. Jockey Paul Gilligan is able to use his 7lb claim here which should come in very handy. Very interesting Handicap Debut.

This is an interesting race for the level but at this price im siding with Eoin Griffin's 7 year old French Gelding GRIVEI. This Son of MUHTATHIR should appreciate dropping back down to 16f where he plugged away in a deeper race here @Limerick over the Christmas period to finish 8th, Now dropped 2lbs for that handicap debut over further (19th) & with the booking of top Jockey Ricky Doyle replacing the claiming jockey & Trainer Eoin Griffin's record here @Limerick (22.22% Win 55.56% Place strike rate past year) along with his knack of getting one 'ready to go' (19.35% Win 38.71% place strike rate - with returning horses) I don't think you could count out this French Charge to perform better than his penultimate (which was his best for new yard) dropping in Weight/trip/Class.

Norman Lee's 10 year old Veteran Mare EDDIE'S PRIDE finished 2nd in this Race last year on Testing Conditions & finds herself only 1lb higher here today. This Daughter of FLEMENSFIRTH ran a nice 3rd last time out @Fairyhouse (26f Soft). Jockey Gary Noonan was In the pilot seat in both aforementioned runs & takes the reins here again shedding a nice 5lbs off. There is still plenty left in this old girls tank & looks well treated here running from near the bottom of the handicap.

Philip Fenton's 5 year old French Gelding JEJE PLESSIS wouldn't exactly jump off the page here but locally based Trainer (County Tipperary) Philip Fenton's stats have me intrigued, His French Charge is his only runner on the card & reappears after a 279 day sabbatical but trainer has a 24.39% Place strike rate with his horses returning from such a break (he has an even better strike rate with 300+ day breaks 42.86% place strike rate) we add more flesh to the bones with a 33% place strike rate with his 2nd time out Handicappers along side this trainers records here @Clonmel with a 60% place strike rate the past year & 35% place strike rate the past 5 years. Jockey Niall Moore shaves 7lbs off this lads back & has a similar track record here 33% place (1 year) 28% place (5 years). Alot of this is weighted towards the trainer but should he have this French charge fired up he could reward an Each way alternative to the shorter priced favourites.

Carlos & Yann Lerner are doubly represented in the opener here @ParisLongchamp & whilst I think their #1 charge L'ARDECHOISE demands plenty of respect (& her winning here wouldn't be out of turn) I'm putting my faith in their 3 year old French Gelding THOMAS SHELBY who enters Handicap company for the first time who was only a neck away on his penultimate @Chantilly (6½f All weather track). This Son of PROFITABLE can run better than he showed 35 days ago @Chantilly where this lad was way too keen. The Jockey booking of Stephane Ladjadj looks positive & I'm happy to go each way here for this Nicely weighted charge.
